So you’ve got the money (via hard work, or, you lucky fool, through someone’s Christmas generosity). How do you spend nearly $2,600 wisely? The funds are virtually unlimited, but you still want to get the most out of your budget, right?

Computer enthusiast website Tom’s Hardware (TH) recently answered that question, through their latest System Builder Marathon (SBM). A regular feature on the site, the SBM features three gaming PCs built on three different budgets. For the months of December, they were $700 (”Gaming”), $1300 (”Enthusiast”), and $2500 (”Performance”).

While the TH team went over budget for the Performance build, the extra $72 is definitely worth it: “Our current build consumes approximately one third the idle power of our most recent high-end $2,500 build… Full load power is also down significantly, making even our 850W power supply seem like overkill.” The December Performance PC also enjoys a 18% increase in average performance, though at the cost of -4% in efficiency.

Buying and selling MMORPG accounts has become big business over the last few years as more and more gamers are deciding to put their accounts up for sale. Gamers from World of Warcraft to Guild Wars to Lord of the Rings Online are not only buying and selling their accounts, but also auctioning them off on sites like MMObay.net.

MMObay.net is one of the top auction sites for MMORPG gamers to buy and sell their accounts. They offer free auctions for members throughout dozens of categories. With World of Warcraft being the larges MMORPG to date, MMObay.net is a great place to buy and sell wow accounts. Not only can gamers sell and buy wow accounts, but they can also trade their accounts.

MMObay.net also takes security seriously as buying and selling MMORPG accounts is risky business. All accounts must first be verified before anyone can buy or sell anything, in addition all accounts are manually checked, which has made MMOBay.net one of the safest places to buy, sell and trade MMO accounts for its members.

With MMORPG growing year to year and gamers wanting to be able to cash in on their characters or take a short cut to a high level character, auction sites like MMOBay.net will only get bigger.

Film and game crossovers are becoming increasingly common and even though we prefer most franchises to be left alone, some studio’s just can’t help themselves. The next big budget blockbuster game to movie adaptation is Prince of Persia and series creator Jordan Mechner has spoken to Gamasutra about the motivation was to pick up the twenty year old franchise:

“The reason they wanted to make this movie, not because it was a video game, but because they liked the idea of doing a swashbuckling adventure movie.”

“Movie genres follow cycles, just like game genres. The Arbian Nights genre hadn’t been done at the A level in 40 years. It was a film genre that was ripe for renewal.” Explained Mr Mechner, who seems to be very media savvy. “Somebody else would have made an Arabian-themed film that’d be coming out right about now.”

“The game Prince of Persia story was just an excuse for getting the player to get from point A to point B and kill everybody he meets.” Not exactly great film fodder but at least Hollywood are trying with this one, enlisting Jake Gyllenhaal and Jerry Bruckheimer who both have money making potential.

Who knows if the motion picture of Prince of Persia will be any good, but at least the creative talent behind the project understand that games and films are different mediums. Sounds crazy enough to work!

We’ll find out how the multi-million dollar project has turned out in 2010 when it’s finally released, we reckon sometime during the summer.
